Palmer's Passages

And so it begins. I have been sending various "Palmer Updates" to folks via email, but I thought it was about time to get fancy. I figure that this way I can keep folks up-to-date on the happenings of my crazy life, without sending old-fashioned mass emails. I hope you enjoy my updates, random comments, strange sense of humor, and delightful pictures. It is my hope that Palmer's Passages will cure all known diseases, end world hunger, and bring back "Animaniacs". Enjoy.

"Adventure Is Out There!"

Well, this BLOG has become like a dusty, old shoe that has not been worn or even looked at in quite some time. In fact, I even forgot about it. But, as I began preparing for my newest overseas adventure, someone advised that I blog about my experience. That was when I remembered that I actually had a blog!

So, I went searching for the "old shoe," found it in the shadows of the Land of Misfit Websites, and here we are.

I'm not sure if anyone cares to read this, or if I'll even be able to keep it sufficiently up-to-date, but I figured that I'd try to resume the ol' habit of blogging.

I will certainly write more soon, but for now, allow me to simply say that I am embarking upon another new adventure and am traveling to South Africa this summer. I depart for the land of "The Big 5" in just six days and am still in shock that I will finally get the chance to see a place I have longed dreamed of visiting.

For those who have joined me in digging up this "old shoe" and are wondering if it is still of any use or value, please stay tuned and I will be happy to write more about my crazy summer travels, what I've been up to these last few months, and what I feel God has been showing me.

In the meantime, may my newest adventure (and whatever adventures you find yourself mixed up in) be fun, exciting, memorable and full of growth!

Livin' the Dream...or Chasing it?

'ello!

Well, I am officially back in LA. As an international criminal, I am not allowed back in Europe until after Oct 26th (very scandalous), and as a result, can resume the chasing of the acting dream.

I will say that it is nice to be home. Being near family, friends, and my favorite restaurants, is always a plus. I did escape to Seattle last weekend to see my good friend Rob Garey get married and had a wonderful time! It was wonderful seeing friends I had not seen in years and getting a chance to "go to Seattle" without ever seeing Seattle. Instead, I was whisked around by my other good friend Chad Watson on a native's tour of the area. From eating organic donuts at Mighty-O's to dinner with nice folks in their beautiful home, to bowling in Bellevue...it was a great weekend.

To cap it off, I met another good friend and his roommates for lunch at an awesome BBQ place (located at a truck stop, yet voted Best BBQ in 2006 and 2007...when asked what happened the past two years, the owner simply said, "we got too busy to care." 'Nuff said), and then a walk through a creepy, abandoned railway tunnel. Of course, we had to jump a fence and scoff at the "No Trespassing" sign placed outside of the 2-mile tunnel. A true adventure indeed.

Upon arriving back home, I immediately set off to rehearse and prepare for the D23 Expo (Disney's big 4-day convention-style event). I was asked to represent AbD by giving a presentation, and visiting with folks. I had a great time and the presentation went very well.

Now, it's back to the life of auditions, working at the Happiest Place on Earth, and living (or should I say, "chasing") the dream. Hopefully I'll have good news to report in the near future, but in the meantime, know that if you're life ever seems uncertain, frightening, odd, and somewhat wild, then you have someone who can relate.

Many blessings,

Palmer

I am still alive

Greetings friends.

For those who still even read this, I am sorry for my lack of posts. I have been traveling through Europe once again this summer and have been a bad blogger.

Now that I am 2.5 months into my season, it is due time to write a post or two.

I was asked to help form and guide the new Alpine Magic tour with AbD. In short, it is an amazingly gorgeous tour that begins in the Italian lakes and ends in Switzerland. The tour starts in the small town of Stresa (located on the coast of Lake Maggiore), visits the lovely Lake Como, heads through the Alps en route to Zermatt and the infamous Matterhorn, and concludes in Luzern. It is 9-days of beautiful scenery and tons of fun activities!

We make pasta in a Villa on Lake Como, dine and taste wine in a 48-year old family-owned wine store, zip-line and climb up trees in Zermatt, ride bikes along Lake Luzern, play with Siberian Huskies, and eat the "best mousse in Switzerland." Not a bad way to spent 9 days!

It has been a wonderful season thus far, full of great tours, many adventures, and lots of fun opportunities. After 2.5 months overseas, I return home tomorrow for 8 days of rest and relaxation. I am looking forward to it.

Here are some photos of the season. Enjoy!

"And the Oscar goes to..."

Howdy folks!

I received the pleasure of being able to work the 81st Academy Awards last night.  I had a blast being a part of the red carpet and all the Hollywood glamour, and thought I'd toss a few pics up for your enjoyment.

I hope that one day, I'll attend the Oscars on different terms (i.e. a nominee?), but until that day comes, this is not a bad compromise!

Best wishes,

Palmer

2009 Already???

Greetings and Happy New Year!  2009 came out of nowhere, and here we are, two days into a new year.  Sure, I am excited about all the hopes and promises of a new year...I am simply shocked that it arrived here so quickly.  After all, the last time I wrote in this BLOG was in late summer!  Where has the time gone?

Well enough of that business, I suppose I should take a moment to update ya'll on what I've been up to.  Fortunately, my mom and I have finished writing a book about her life.  In December, we concluded a two-year project that has resulted in blood, sweat, and tears (literally I'm afraid).  It is a book containing her life story and the amazing journey she has been through.  We are now in the midst of trying to find a literary agent, get it published, etc.  Hopefully, God will see it through and the book will be on the shelves of Barnes & Noble everywhere.  Hey...one can dream!

I returned to Germany with Adventures by Disney in October to guide the last trip of the season.  It was an amazing time of year to be there and was one of the best trips I've had.  The leaves had begun to fall (I forgot how beautiful autumn can be) and the weather was simply gorgeous.  Here are a few amazing pics from that trip:

After concluding my second season with AbD, I moved into a new place in Santa Monica and returned to my life of auditioning and working at ol' D-Land.  I also found a unique way to earn extra cash by performing as a wicked Step Sister (something I've done once, and probably only once)...

This winter, I was contacted by the first director I ever did theatre with (back in 1996).  He asked me to co-star in a Christmas play with him this December.  The show was called "Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some)," and it was a three-man show that basically covered...well...every Christmas story ever told.  We had a lovely time, I had 30 costume changes in the 90-min show, and it was great way to bring in the holidays.  Here are a few pics:

Now that 2009 has begun, I shall simply wait and see what a new year brings.  Will I book a big gig?  Will I go back to Europe this summer?  Will I end up applying for Grad School?  Will I move to the jungles of South America?  Will I take up Under-Water-Basket-Weaving?  Time will tell.

In the meantime, may you have a blessed and happy 2009 and here's to many wonderful adventures ahead!

Home Sweet Home

Well folks, as much fun as it is to galavant around Germany...it is time to return home.

On August 17th, I will hang-up the lederhosen for a couple of months, before returning to Germany in late October to do the last trip of the season. I haven't been home in about 4 months and it will be nice to be amongst family and friends once again. I must admit that I had yet another amazing summer with Adventures by Disney and it is always sad to see the season come to a close. Yet, I also am craving some authentic American foods such as Chinese Food, Mexican Food, and Mom's Home Cookin'!

I hope that those reading this BLOG have had a wonderful summer as well and one they will never forget. I feel blessed to have had a couple of incredible summers recently and I hope that my life will continue to be full of adventure and excitement. I am also ready, however, to plant myself somewhere so that I can begin to grow in whatever field God has determined. I still feel strongly that that field is Acting, and I will continue to remain in that field until it has completely dried up. Of course, I always leave the door open for other incredible opportunities and paths that I may have not yet imagined for myself. I am simply ready to begin that "next phase" of my life, wherever it leads me.

Many blessings to you and yours and here are some pics...
