Bullet Wounds

Hi there and sorry for no recent postings. A lot has been going on in my life (and the lives of those dearest to me) and it is time to share!

Many are aware that my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. Due to the aggressive nature of her cancer, she had to get a bilateral mastectomy. Due to her nerve disease (RSD), she had to choose against reconstruction, as it could increase the risk of the RSD spreading. Needless to say, this was all very difficult news for her to hear.

So, on Monday she had her surgery and the battle began. I titled this post "bullet wounds" because I feel like the Palmer family has many bullet wounds to display. The battle has been fierce, but we know we have the God of the Universe on our side. The bullets seem to be blazing, but we press on, knowing that we have an important mission to accomplish.

On Monday evening, after the surgery, my mom experienced some clotting and swelling in her left chest area and felt intense RSD pain. The doctors then took her back in to surgery on Tuesday morning (very rare) to relieve the clotting. That went as well as possible, but we are all waiting to see if the RSD has spread at all (since both surgeries came close to where it "lives" and it is a very huge and frightening risk). We are also waiting for her body to begin recovering. Most folks who have this operation are only in the hospital for a day and she has been in the hospital for 4 days now.

All this to say that we need your prayers! The battle has not only been physical, but very spiritual as well. My mom has experienced good and bad things spiritually and it has become apparent that she is under attack. We hope and pray that God will protect her and rescue her and allow her heart, body, and spirit to begin to heal.

I'll do my best to keep you posted. This is probably her most difficult battle yet, especially as it is a very emotional struggle. I have no idea what it is like for a woman to lose her breasts, but I know it is very hard for her. I only hope God can use this unfortunate circumstance to remind her, and all of us, how unimportant looks and appearances are. What counts, and what will remain with us for eternity, is how beautiful our souls are...and hers is radiant!

So, the battle rolls on, but we keep fighting and praying for victory.

In other news, I am happy to say that I made my final financial investment towards becoming a "professional actor". I am now a member of SAG! Of course, there is a bit of a strike going on these days, but at least I can begin auditioning with the "big boys" and hopefully see my career take off. The path I am on is certainly an adventurous one. I never know what the next day, week, or month will bring, but I know I have God beside me each step of the way. So I simply focus on one day at a time and hope for the best.

In doing so, I booked my first SAG gig! A woman (who happens to be Christian and whom I never met before), called me and offered me work on a video game called "Legendary: The Book". I went in today and got to yell, shout, scream, cry, and behave like a soldier fighting legendary monsters...and get paid for it! The game comes out in 2008 and it will be fun to hear different variations of my voice yelling things like, "Soup's On!", "There's werewolves everywhere!!!" and "Bravo Team, get out there and kill those things!!!"

Aside from that, I am auditioning many times each week and hoping that something eventually sticks. I will be working the American Music Awards on Nov 18th, performing at Disneyland throughout the holiday season, and getting ready to sing my favorite Christmas songs and drink lots of hot cocoa come December.
